Who I am

This website is operated by Gulam Akbar, an online holistic life coach based in the United Kingdom.

I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. That means I decide what information is collected and how it is used.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information I collect through this website and through coaching, why I collect it, how long I keep it, and what rights you have over it.

It applies to visitors to the website, people who make an enquiry, and coaching clients.

Information I collect

When you contact me

If you use the contact form or email me, I collect:

  • Your name

  • Your email address

  • Your phone number, if you provide it

  • Whatever you choose to write in your message

I collect this so I can reply to you.

When you buy a coaching programme or session

If you purchase, I collect:

  • Your name and contact details

  • Billing information

  • A record of what you bought, when, and for how much

Payment card details are never seen or stored by me. Payments are processed by [Wix Payments / Stripe — DELETE AS APPROPRIATE], who handle your card information directly under their own privacy policy.

During coaching

Coaching involves discussing personal matters. In the course of that, I may hold:

  • Notes I make during or after a session, recording goals you have set, commitments you have made, and progress against them

  • Responses to self-assessment exercises and goal-setting tools you complete

  • Scheduling information

These notes exist so I can coach you properly — so that week seven builds on week six rather than starting again.

How session notes are handled:

  • They are kept to the minimum needed to support your coaching

  • They are stored securely in Wix Database

  • They are not shared with anyone

  • You can ask to see them at any time

  • If you would prefer I keep no written notes, tell me and I won't

Sessions are not recorded unless you have explicitly agreed in advance.

When you visit the website

Some information is collected automatically:

  • Your IP address

  • Browser type and device

  • Pages visited and how long you spent on them

  • The site you arrived from

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for using personal information. Mine are:

Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it whenever you like and it costs you nothing.

Who I share information with

I do not sell your personal information. I do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Information is shared only with the service providers who make the business run:

  • Wix.com Ltd — hosts this website and processes contact form submissions

  • Wix Payments — processes payments

  • Google Workspace / Microsoft 365 — email and document storage

  • Zoom / Google Meet / Microsoft Teams— video calls for coaching sessions

  • Google Analytics — website statistics

Each of these acts on my instructions and is bound by its own data protection obligations.

Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law, such as International Data Transfer Agreements or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

I may also disclose information where I am legally required to, or where there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person — as set out in the confidentiality terms of the coaching agreement.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Be told what information I hold about you and why

  • Access a copy of it

  • Correct anything inaccurate

  • Delete it, where there is no overriding reason for me to keep it

  • Restrict how it is used while a query is resolved

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests

  • Portability — receive your information in a transferable format

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis

There is no charge for this.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, please tell me first — most things are resolved quickly that way.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information: two-factor authentication on accounts holding personal data, strong unique passwords, encrypted connections, and access limited to me alone.

No system is completely secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, I will tell you and report it to the ICO as required.

Children

This service is for adults. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
